2013 Kubota L3200 HST
Need some help here. My tractor started acting up when starting. Same symptons as many I've read on here; rapid clicking of starter, sometimes nothing at all. Sometimes it seemed that the clutch safety switch was the issue but not consistent. The other day, same issues. When starter finally started engaged, it took a while to start. After moving a couple of hundred yards, I smelled something (electrical) burning. Turned the switch off and to my surprise the bendix was still engaged! Turned switch back on and tractor would run. Turned switch off again, grabbed a pair of pliers and disconnected the battery. By this time, the bendix had turned into a blue smoke generator. There were also some burning of the connectors on the starter. Ordered new starter and replaced it. When I went to hook up the battery, the starter engaged with the switch off. Did continuity checks on switch assembly and all checks out. Same for clutch safety switch. There is a dead short between the bendix wire and the hot side of the battery. My next guess would be the starter relay. Another ideas? Appreciate any and all comments.

Well it could be the relay, key switch, mice chewed some wires......

The key switch checks out good when out of the tractor but shows dead short on starter wire when plugged in so the problem is upstream from the switch. (I think). I'll check for chewed wires though. Hadn't thought of that.

Did you figure out the issue? I have a similar issue and I need to toy with the hst pedal to get it to start.

That's a different & common problem across many manufacturers. The neutral safety switch and/or HST pedal is out of adjustment. If a machine pedal isn't in neutral it would start moving on startup unexpectedly.

I had same problem with neutral switch adjusted has been fine on l3200 to test switch lift switch to activate with fingernail then tractor started so took out and adjusted. All good

My starter acts up also. Finally quit all together when using the key. I put one starter on the tractor which is an L3200. It was fine for a while. I by passed all the safety switches I could find and it still acted up. I finally just un plugged the small wire on the starter and hooked a push button switch to it. Turn the key switch on and hit the button. Haven't had anymore trouble. One of these days I will take it in and let the dealer find the problem I gave up. Mine also got to where it wouldn't idle when you got off the seat. I wired the safety switch down that fixed it. Bought a new seat safety switch and it still won't idol when you get off the tractor unless the switch is wired down. To much government regulation is the biggest problem with them.
