The plastic hinge broke and then today I lost the lid. I'd like to get something a little bigger. I like Pelican cases but they are probably too deep.

Suggestions?

My L3400 came without a toolbox, and I looked around before deciding, to once more (I had used the first one on a B8200 some years ago), install a Craftsman $10 plastic toolbox- the size seems perfect, it's waterproof, and has a sturdy hinge/latch arrangement. It is actually a bit bigger than the factory steel toolbox that was on my L3130. I will follow up with a photo tomorrow.

Okay- here're a couple photos- the box fits quite nicely between the fenders. I think it would do the same with a L3200.

I got a "Homer box" from Home Depot. Just a generic tool box twice the size of the OEM one. Happens to be Kubota orange. Drilled 2 holes in the bottom & mounted. The bigger box barely hits the back of the seat & wiggles a bit due to the extra weight of all the crap I have in it. It works better than OEM but not great.

I bought a Homer Box like Fallon to replace that little waste of a box that came on my L3200 but when I went to replace it I decided that the Homer Box was too large. Instead, I used an old Craftsman tool box that I already had and it fit much better. I then used the Homer Box to replace the Craftsman box and now have more room for both applications.

I took a different approach. There wasn't any place that really appealed to me for mounting a box on the L3200. Valuable spaces were already taken up by the cab, externally mounted rear wiper and control box for the rear blower. I don't need a large tool box, just a few wrenches, Channellocks, pins, shear bolts, etc. Everything I want fits into a soft tool bag that stows under the left side of the seat. When I built the cab, I used a cow mat to block off the area under and behind the seat and it created a stiff floor there.

It stays dry, no brackets to build, nothing to vibrate loose over time.

EDIT TO ADD: Just noticed the wood showing in the pic. That's not part of the cab fab [grin]. That's the "Unclogger" for the snow blower made from an old baseball bat that I ran through the saw at work to make it about an inch thick. The end is now chisel-shaped.

What about milsurp or aftermarket ammo cans?

This plastic one is

Outside dimensions: 8.75" (L) x 15.5" (W) x 9" (H) Inside dimensions: 7.5" (L) x 13" (W) x 7.25" (H)
O-Ring seal
Designed for stacking
Rugged polypropylene plastic
Durable and moisture resistant; Made in USA

A 40mm can is 18 wide by 6" deep by 10" high, also about $20.

New sty'e 40 cal box is 12 in. x 7 in. x 8½ h.

I just cut a piece of piano hinge and pop riveted it in place.
Works fine, fast simple fix.

It is still going strong. but still still small and still too dirty :)
