I'm not sure if I have the correct terminolgy when reviewing the parts on the L3300 4x4 front axle. There is oil dripping down to the tire, and it appears to be originating where the axle ends is flanged into a plate. There are four rather large bolts each in the corner of this square flange. It seems like the leak is originating at this joint rather than further downstream in the tq path where the tq turns and goes down to the wheels.

Is this considered an axle seal, or maybe an o-ring in there between the two plates. I'm not sure how big of a job it is to take this apart.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this. I appreciate the feedback that I got on earlier notes that got me this far.

Moday:
It isn't exactly clear where the gear oil is leaking out, but there is an Oring where the axle joins gear case and another very large one on the bevel gear case. There is also an oil seal on the lower axle. You can do this repair as I have. You only need circlip pliers and wrenches.
I have attached the parts diagram from which you can probably figure it out. The WSM is not that helpful, but you should get on if you can.

This is a common problem. I replaced the seal and cap on my L3710 at 600 hours and have heard of many other doing the same at much lower hours. I switched to gear oil after installing the new seal and cap. Get a decent pair of circlip pliers, I needed 2, having an inner and outer clip. I screwed around with a generic cheapo set of pliers for 30 minutes, bought the right tool and I was good to go in 60 seconds. Plan on an hour to get this torn apart and back together, next time it will be 30 minutes.

I have been in that deep on my 3710, but could not figure out how to remove part number 040, whuch seems to be a "keeper". What is the trick? is a special tool needed?

I don't think you need to remove the collar to replace the O-ring, but I assume you could drive the axle out and it would come out with the bearing??

My L2550DT did not seem to have part #40, as I recall. It did come apart
easily, however. My experience with Kubota bearings and shafts is that
they are not "interference-fit", so bearing removers and presses are not
usually required.
