Tractor
Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
One thing that the bare bones L3400 is missing is a toolbox. It got tiring not having a spot to put the odd clevis, pins etc.

I had planned on the dealer doing this when I sent it in for a 50 hr service but I ended up doing the service myself. I mustered up the courage to drill some holes in my tractor and I think I'm happy with the result.

This is a run of the mill metal toolbox I picked up at TSC, painted it Kubota orange. There didn't seem to be a perfect spot for it on this machine so this is what I settled on. It's bolted on well and I don't plan on carrying much weight in it but we'll see how my very first project holds up!

Looks Good. I'll have to see if my 7610 can suport some mud flaps like that.
With my Backhoe I can't go behind the seat.

Nice job Canoe. But I couldn't do that, I'm always in the woods and brush and I'd probably rip it off in no time :) I've got to ponder this a bit b/c I do definitely need a tool box on board.

SR - no question in my mind. If I were to do it again I would put it behind the seat on the fender bracket that the SMV sign is and move the SMV sign. I ended up moving the SMV sign anyway.

I should point out that with my wide R4's the box is not THAT exposed. I wouldn't want to go too close to a fenceline on that side though.

In a Ace Hardware store I got expandable pipe plugs for the FEL tubes. They're easy to remove and install. The front tube being much longer is good for storing my 20 foot chain. I have this in addition to a tool box mounted behind the seat.

Ya, I saw that chain storage idea in another thread and plan on doing the same. But a tool box back by the 3pth is KEY. Just gotta get time to do both since they're both pretty low on the to-do list. Getting things shaped up for spring is more important to the boss. I spent the entire w/end behind a power broom getting my drive way, back onto the drive way :) Power brooms are fun for about the first 20 min. Then they pretty much suck. My arms and shoulders are sore and my teeth still feel gritty from all the dust and dirt and rocks I was chewing on :)

I have a L2800 and put my toolbox were the SMV emblem is located. Drilled two holes in the fender cross bar and installed the toolbox.I bought the toolbox from Sevens Tractor Supply in Coushatta Louisiana. The toolbox was $20.00 and is a replacement for a Ford 9N.:D

What are the expandable pipe plugs? Where would I go looking for them? What is their design purpose?

Usually used in plumbing, it's basically a rubber plug with a bolt through it and a wing nut. When you tighten the wing nut, it expands the rubber to seal the pipe. Kinda like a boats drain plug.
