L3400 vs Grand L3130

I will echo cheesehead in that you get the LA723 loader and also a heavy duty bucket. Since you will be doing a lot of digging and spreading of gravel the combination will pay off in the long run. The bolt on cutting edge is optional, it just saves wear on the bucket edge which is already fairly heavy. A toothbar might be of greater value.

I have a L3400 and the price difference between my machine and a L3130 (both hydrostatic) was about $2000. That was not with the LA723 loader either.
$2000 was too much for me as I was past my budget $10k ago!.
However, if it was a difference of hundreds (or even $1K), there is no question - I would have gone with the L3130. Its a mighty fine machine. You will appreciate the extra weight and other extras.
Do yourself a favour and definately spring for the LA723 loader though. Worth every extra dollar you will spend for sure.

I would get the 3130 with the 723 loader (4 or 5 hundred more than the 513 but well worth it) and a bolt on toothbar. The standard bucket has worked fine for me and that loader is great. Load the tires and the 3130 will really hook up and get it done.

I'm being quoted 17,800 for that same 3130 config you're talking about. (with loaded r4's)
I wish I had all the data in order in front of me, I'd post the capacity of each loader so you could see why you're being directed toward a 723. For 800 to 900 bucks you could get the Quick Attach bucket in addition to the loader upgrade.
If our dealers prices were as aggressive as yours, I might not be buying a Massey.
