Now that's a proper filter. That new one's identical to the ones I've been using - I think your troubles are behind you now.

I'd love to know the whole story; namely, was that batch of old ones poorly designed, or just incorrectly labeled? Since you blew up 3 of them, I'm leaning toward the latter, or we probably would have heard a lot more about this problem.

Again, sorry you had to go through this, it must have been incredibly frustrating. It's always such a pain when you want to work, and your tractor doesn't! At least I learned a lot about surges and warmup. I always do my best to let the hydro warm up a bit before working it hard, but maybe I'll be even "kinder" to it from now on. Not gonna "baby" it, mind you ... just going to try to look at things from it's point of view. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's the same 59900 that I use for the HST trans. It looks like the unit on the lower right in the photo. Machined Aluminum base. Caterpillar yellow paint. It is located on the left side of the trans. It cost's around $50.- A substantial filter indeed.

The base of the filter in the upper left of the photo looks like the one for the hydraulics return. Stamped Steel base. It accepts a ring magnet.

I think your problem is solved John_Bud.
What will you do with your remaining steel base filters? Use them on the hydraulic side if the threads and base mate up?

Funny thing about that filter on the top. It was touted as the solution to this problem and it looks so insubstantial compared to the latest incarnation!

At the price of these filters, I can't just toss them out (even though they deserve it!). I think they will be used from spring until fall, then go over to the good ones in the fall.

I don't think that Kubota uses ring magnets on any filters in the "L" line up. Or is that another improvement?

Ha! I found out why the pictures were so dern fuzzy. Some fumblin fat fingered fool turned off the auto focus. (me)

Attached is a picture of the directions on the filter that failed.

on the original hydraulic filter (from the factory) there was a ring magnet. The replacement filter did not have the magnet. I cleaned and placed the magnet into the replacement filter. It's easy to miss and I don't remember any reference to it within the service literature, so it's probably not a big deal.
