L35 key wont turn off engine

Hi everyone

I just finished using my L35 and when I turned the key off, the engine didn't stop. This is the first time this has happened.

Has anyone got any ideas why? or how to fix?

The key on my B7500 isn't supposed to shut off the engine, so the best idea I have is that it sounds like you might have the opposite of the problem addressed in this thread.

Check the fuse, the L-35 had a problem with that fuse holder going bad/corroding. The fuse may be good but it's not making good contact. Other items in the system that may be at fault include the stop solenoid and or the time delay relay.

Yes,, exactly what Kubmech said. I had a L35 that did that until I cleaned and replace the fuses in the fuse holder located on the lower left sitting in unit. ????????? I think it's there.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Tell us how you made out.

Ditto , Birds reply. wondered what happened to u . missed your expert advise. but a question, why would a bad fuse connection STOP a machine from shutting down? would it not stop it from starting? i am as always confused /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and again welcome back.

It was as you said, a corroded fuse box connection. I stripped the whole box down and cleaned everthing, and it works a treat now.

It's so easy when you know how!!!

I have a B2150 with the same problem-starts up but won't shut down with the key. Is this apt to be the same problem or something else? I don't know where the fuse box is. Any help?

Hey Guys, 'been pretty busy for the last few months, computer time and access has been pretty limited, however, I have been able to check in from time to time. Just not enough to get involved with many discussions.

The L35 and the 2150 both operate pretty much the same way for shut down. There is a solenoid attached to the injection pump linkage. When the key is placed in the off position it energizes through a "time delay relay" and pulls the linkage to the shutoff position. The time delay holds it for a few seconds to ensure the engine shuts down then releases.
The fuse box on the 2150, if I remember correctly, is on the right side of the engine firewall. Pull the right engine panel and you should see it. Can't remember for sure which models
/options but some tractors came with just a manual shutoff lever and may not have a shutoff solenoid.
