I am going to go drive another DK40se hst tomorrow. The local dealer said he would have it together for me to test tomorrow. I saw it in the crate 2 days ago.
If I go with the Kubota, should I pay $1500 extra and get it local? I have talked to the local dealer about the price. This year he quoted it at $21,200 but after talking to his manager he said the best he could do was $21,000. He quoted me the same tractor late in the day on December 31st 2013 and the price was $19,999. After the new year on Jan 2, 2014 the new price is now settled at $21,000.
They said all the good promotions ended on December 31st, even though the dealer was closed and I got the quote from his smart phone late in the evening Dec 31st. There was no possible was for me to buy it on the 31'st due to his late quote.
Oh well, Kentucky dealer will do it for $19,500.
Should I travel (4 hours 20 min each way) and save $1500 or buy 30 min away and have local dealer support if needed.
BTW, I plan to do all my own maintenance. I have 2 years of diesel training, 2 years of GM automotive training with a degree in automotive technology. I worked at a GM dealer for 2 years and worked factory maintenance for 13 years.
So, the moral is... I plan to take care of all the maintenance. The warranty would only be used If a part fails.
My new local price for the DK40se HST is $22,700 for the new year. It has ROPS, R4 tires and 401 loader.
