Hello

I am hoping to borrow someones expertise

Under the seat on my L3830 is a totally weird looking plug
I understand that this is a 12 volt power source for adding light
But what I cannot find answers to are

1- What Kind of plug is this and WHERE can you get a Male plug
to plug into it I have taken a pic of the plug tonnumerous aouto parts stores
and the only thing anybody had ever seen like this is on an Alternator

2 - What rating in AMPS is this circut and of that How Much is avalible for use ie it could be a 20 Amp circut but it is already using 10 amps for other lights

3 - Is this circut Already fused or do I need to ADD a fuse

thx for any and all help !!

Have you put a meter on it when the tractor is running to see if it is live? If it is you can change the connector and do what you want with it. Check the fuse panel to see if it is fused (should be) and then you can size the fuse properly to the application you choose.

Picture of this plug? It is probably an aux light plug which is on when the key is on. ~10 amp circuit IIRC.

I bought a rear light sold by Kubota just for this plug. It came with all the hardware. The installation was easy and it was $70. It works fine.

If it is the same plug as the one on my 5030, I used a standard spade connector from any auto parts store.Just push it on the terminal. You could even cutoff the factory connector and solder on any type of connetor that you choose.

The plug under the seat look like this. Clearly it is intended to plug into a matching Male connector of the same type.

Its jut that none of the auto parts shops have anything like it except on a an alternator

Has anyone found a source for MALEs of this type of connector ?

Heck. you are not entering 'concours d'elegance' competitions with a tractor!

Cut away and install a suitable pair of connectors from an auto parts.
Or simply splice and I suggest heat shrink tubing to seal the connection.

Had problems like that before and went to the local John Deere dealer and he was able to find a match in stock. They have an array from varous attachments to the Deere tractors

Not ideal but I have had success using a type of connector you can get at any hardware or autoparts store. Not sure of the correct name but they consist of a male-female piece with a crimp on each. I just use the male piece which is an approx. 1/4 "blade". They plug right into the connector. I have used this same size on L3830 and JD4110.
