L39 Backhoe off, PTO implement needs hydraulics

Here are a couple of shots of my remote valve. I take the remote valve off when the backhoe is mounted. I used a couple of existing holes in the roll bar to mount the valve. Since I currently have the backhoe on, I set the remote valve in place so you could see. Note that the supply and return lines for the remote valve have mating quick disconnects for the swing pump and return line ports on the tractor. The valve is larger than necessary, but it is one I had. Likewise with the fittings for quick disconnects on the valve. They are a little ugly, but I used what I had.

If you want to use the remotes with the backhoe, then get a valve with a power beyond port and connect the swing supply line from the backhoe to the power beyond port. You would need a tee in the return line to connect the return line from the valve. You would also have to connect the power beyond port to the return to use the remotes without the backhoe.

Looks great! I have been planning on doing that forever. Would work perfect for a Top N Tilt or other 3pt hydraulics. The only thing it wouldn't be ideal for is a Thumb on the hoe.

Exactly what I use the remotes for - Top link and snow blower shoot rotate.

Kubota does off a foot pedal operated remote for the backhoe. It adds a valve to the backhoe valve stack and uses the main pump hydraulics. I have not priced it, but with all the brackets, hoses and fittings shown in the parts diagram, I bet it is in $1500-$2000 range.

I have a manual thumb. Two weeks ago I was digging a drain tile trench for someone when I ran into bunch of buried chunks of concrete. Most of them were too large to just scoop up with the backhoe bucket so I had to stop and set the mechanical thumb to lift them out of the way. It was at bit of a pain because the thumb got in the way of digging and I had to set and re-set the thumb a couple times :(. I was thinking then that a hydraulic thumb sure would be nice.

You are pretty close. I think the valve set itself is right around $1200.

For that kind of money, I will strongly consider a diverter valve setup. When using the thumb you probably don't need swing, so a push button and a divertor valve and for ~$300 we could have a nice valve setup.

I realize I'm dragging up an OLD thread...but quick question on this configuration:

What about the power beyond port on the valve stack? I see you have supply and tank return hooked up to the ports on the tractor. Does the PB just get plugged on the valve?
