Zeroing in…..sounds like boom cylinder or any separate valves that control it alone.
I'm not an hydraulics authority by any means but have you tried reversing the away and back function to determine if the problem is in the spool valve? If nothing changes the cylinder may have issues. Just my 2 cents!!
This should not make much of a mess. Start by releasing the line pressure by moving your valves back and forth till all movement of your boom stops. Catch any drips with whatever you have handy. From the picture you provide the biggest issue I can see is access. Looks tight in there. You might consider switching the hoses on the cylinder instead. As for torque specs, take careful note how tight they are coming off. For testing, fully torqued may not matter much. Once you are done the test and returning everything to the way it was, the most important consideration is leaks. Good luck!Sorry for the delayed reply. Too many active projects and life gets in the way. I am thinking I need to swap these hoses to reverse the boom operation on a BT1000... How much of a mess will this make? The BH doesn't have QC fittings, is there anything specific I should know before I move the hoses - How tight do these fittings get torqued?
Yes, it does to me!! Good to see you won this round.Update for the forum - I haven't yet had a chance to swap the hoses as other tractor projects (converted truck plow), work, and home activities have been a priority. Last night I decided to use the BH to pull a 10" stump (dipper and bucket work were working fine) and after using the hoe for 15 minutes, the boom magically began normal operation and can now exert enough force to lift the back of the tractor (This was quite surprising when it happened accidentally!). I assume something (dirt, paint, or other debris) was stuck in the boom spool allowing it to bypass internally which is now free. Does this make sense?
