Got a quote for both tractors with packages. 5 brush hog and box blade with the 3901 and 6 implements with the 4701. Exactly $5k difference between the tractors. Kubota and Deere and everyone are doing 0% right now because of Covid so I figured good time to buy.

I have 20 acres. Gravel driveway to maintain. 10 acre pasture to brush hog plus some trails in the woods. Loader work planned to build and maintain a shooting backstop.

I like the idea of more capability with the 4701. But I like the price of the 3901 obviously. Ground gets wet out here too so worried about turf tearing up more with the 4701.

Dont want to regret size though because Ive done that with a Deere mower. Bought a z915e last year and want to trade up for more power so I want to avoid doing that again.

The 4701 has larger tires which will offset the weight. The 4701 has a more robust loader. If I could spend your money I would buy the L4701. You already feel the pain of under buying.

Good point. Thanks. They are saying $900 for either model for filled R4 tires too.

There are a multitude of videos on U-Tube showing how to load rear tractor tires in your driveway. $900.00 is nuts.

I think you would be disappointed with the L3901 during day two.

Let me repeat something I said a few times before. Back in 2012 I settled for a Kubota L3200 because the L3900 was around $1500 more or something like that. It wasn't too many years till I was wishing for a few more horses to drag a larger RFM uphill.

With only 20 acres, and not running a business.... you can get by with the L3901. You could use the L4701 but after a while, it would be over kill. Take the extra money you save and buy a grapple and TnT for the L3901. You will not regret it.... that's my :2cents:

Its $900 for loaded R4s. Not just loading the ag tires or whatever it comes with. Im sure there is a big upcharge on the loading portion because its probably a way for them to up margins though.

Other brands may give you a better deal or more features or both. That's a big reason why after looking at Kubota L3301/3901 I went with a different brand. I think I'd want a 6' cutter for 10 acres of pasture. I got a 5' cutter for manuverabilty but I'm cutting far less and have to work around a lot of trees and other obstacles. 6' may be too big for trails. It's not just the width but also how far it extends behind the tractor. A flail does not extend to the rear so far but they don't cut in reverse and cost more.
