This is what I found after pulling the bottom CAP off the bevel houseing.

NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!

Pic shows beginning of removal, note the metal shavings inside the planetary system. HOPING the wheel bearings are not too ate up from metal shavings. NO play in hub though

This photo is taken upside down from the floor up. Interesting photo, note the SHINY RING of wear where the bevel gear was (sloppy) and eating ever so slightly into the bevel housing. The second photo is the lack of needle bearings. Sux.

Tonight I get deeper into it. It appears I will be rebuilding the entire thing just to be safe, just depends on how much play remains in the upper portion of the bevel.

The reason I am posting this is soooo many people have documented there issues here and I have been hustling knowledge for years. I thought it was my turn. Hope someone makes it useful.

Re: L4150DT Bevel Gear Repair Update with Pics (HELP?)

I am hung up! This is as far as I could take it. It took several Love Taps to get this far and it feels as if it should slide off the bevel case. Can anyone help me with ideas?

Thanks in advance

Do you have the parts diagram in PDF for your tractor?

Yes I have parts diagram as well as workshop manual. Some suggestions from other members have been pretty simple, "get a bigger hammer" which is spot on with where I'm at. I had another comment about the possibility of there being some "mushrooming" from the needle bearing failure. As for the workshop manual, it explains it as coming off without a hitch? Regardless, it have to come off or I have one big concrete weight.....

I always try to get the parts and service manual for my equipment. I figure its a cheap investment in extending the machines life. How about posting the pages that show the blow up of the axle. That way I can offer some more useless advice.:D

Well, I took the advice from many on TBN. Called Ronnie at Tractorsmart and what a guy. I voiced my concerns and he promptly called me back with a repair package that we feel is the right parts for what has been destroyed. GREAT guy. Should have parts next week.

Stay tuned
