Oil & Fuel L4240 HST

I'm changing the oils and filters for my Kubota L4240 Model V2203-M-E2-HST for the first time. Found WIX part # for engine oil filter($7.50) but can't find for hydraulic filter. The Kubota# is TA240-59900 or HHTA0-59900. Does anyone know of a cross to a WIX or Fram etc hydraulic filter?

Consensus seems to be that the hydro and trans filter are available from Kubota only. Nothing cross-references to them. Bite the bullet and get them from your dealer or online.

The Kubota filters are not that much more expensive and will make any warranty claims much easier.

Wix makes good filters but for a buck or two why not use OEM and have peace of mind (keep the receipts). Same with the fluids although they do cost more. I use New Holland hydraulic and Shell Rotella or Chevron Delo 400.

After the warranty runs out do as you please.

Here is the Wix website. Type in the Kubota numbers to see what comes up. If it doesn't come up, they don't make it. NAPA also sells Wix under the NAPA brand.

Ok your suggestions seems to be the way to go in my case. I'll buy from the dealer at least until warranty is over as you advise. It would be smart to keep the warranty using OEM parts.

The one main Hydro filter on my L3940 isn't available aftermarket that I know of. I paid $71 for the one filter, I tried to cross it over but at Wix it said it was a valid number but no filter was available from them. The things threads end was machined from aluminum not just a stamped out end, this one:

The lady at the counter even asked us if they told us that one filter was $71 ;-)

I have sent the factory Kubota filter info to WIX and they said they would research a replacement filter. It looks like we'll be stuck with buying the OEM filter at least for the foreseeable future. Kubota quoted me $78.00 for their hydraulic filter. Not all the money in the world but still think we're getting ripped-off.

Wait until you see the filter. If it is like the transmission filter on an L48 it is machined as Grateful11 wrote.

On the L48 there is no gasket, just machined metal-to-metal so maybe that is what you are dealing with in the $78 filter.

The L48's filter didn't have a cross reference either. These are not stamped out tin filters at all but rather specially constructed. However, don't know why it has to be that way.

i talked long an hard to the kubota dealer about the filters oil an hydro oil.an he said it was best to use kubotas oils an filters.ill do my 50hr service in a month or so,an ill see what everything costs.an i will most likely let them do all the service on the tractor.

You will save a lot of money doing your own service on it as they are really pretty straightforward steps. We service our BX2660, L5030 and M8540 after paying the dealer once.

I'm not going to be due until next summer but I'm sure I'll buy Kubota filters and synthetic hydro fluid. Sure it'll cost more but in the long run not really much more. I don't know about the rest of you but I plan on keeping this tractor for 20 years or more.
