Howdy

I am going to put on a 10k lb hydraulic winch on the tractor for the purpose of pulling a wagon up the side of a very steep hill. Pry 200 feet of pulling at a time.

The tractor came with the block type hydraulic unit, and I am afraid that all of the ports are used up with the front end loader.

Does anyone know how I might be able to add this?

Thanks

Depending on how many remotes that you already have, you may be able to add another one. Or, you can put an electric switch valve.

What do you mean by remotes? The only hydraulic implement on the tractor is the FEL, one output, two imputs.

So I might be able to put a T in the output line that goes to the loader and put some sort of switch valve so as I could choose between loader and winch?

The way the hydraulic systems are designed on this tractors you can't T in to the pressure side, only the return. If you will do a search for "Remote" you will find more than you can read in the next year. It is a valve with a set of hoses, a pressure hose and a return hose. They can be a factory setup or you can design your on from after market parts for a lot less money. The ones that are after market are a lot less expensive. The only draw back to them is that you have to design a bracket and figure out where you want to put it. The factory remote handles go in slots that are already on the tractor so you don’t have to figure out where they go. When you do a search, pay close attention to what MadReferee says about them. He knows more about them, especially the Kubotas than I do.

Oh wow.....they look expensive.....

It looks like they come with some sort of a lever to control flow? In my case, all the winch needs is flow, there is a valve on it....

Anyone done this job cheaper?

If it already has a control valve on it, then all you will need is what is called Power Beyond. It usually consists of a PBY fitting that goes in your loader control valve with a couple of hoses and a bracket. The last set that I heard priced was about $150. Give your dealer a call and ask them what a "Power Beyond Kit" would run?

Ya, all the winch needs is line in and line out, nothing else. It was meant to be powered by the power steering pump of a jeep.

Will the operation of the loader be affected by this power beyond kit while running at the same time?

Thanks

The valve on the winch needs to be plumbed so that the fluid can free flow back to the sump when the valve isn't activated. If it isn't it will deadhead and blow the relief or tear up the pump. I would be willing to bet that is the way that it is made already. I can’t see a system on a Jeep being a closed center system. You need to make sure that the valve on the winch has enough capacity for the flow that the tractor pump puts out. If it doesn’t you will have problems.

You won't able to even tell that it is there. The fluid goes from the pump to the control valve on the loader then to the three-point hitch and back to the sump. If the PBY is plumbed in the fluid will go from the pump to the loader valve then to the winch then to the three-point and back to the sump. It is an open center system. The fluid has to flow all the time except when a valve is in use. (I believe I got the correct order of things for a Kubota as far as which point the fluid goes to)
If there is a mistake here I am sure someone else will catch it for us.

Just make sure that the valve on the winch is the right type and capacity.

No. I have no idea.
