Gordon - Yes, they were nearer to boulders as far as I'm concerned, too.

I was talking about the sidewall, not the rim. What I meant, actually, was that close to a third of the tread was in contact with the ground. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the tire was buried up past the bottom of the rim.

It was some serious traction, as you said, and it took every bit of it to move those rocks. I wish I knew what they weighed. I know the front end loader wouldn't begin to lift them - it wouldn't even lift them well enough to roll them. I had to lift and push at the same time just to roll them into place.

Another seat update: My friend ordered the $120 version of this seat that Northern sells. I'll let everyone know exactly what it is when it arrives. The whole thing is still fishy. The Star Seat website says all their seats have a 100mm stroke, which is right at 4", but the Northern catalog says theirs have strokes from a little under 4" to almost 5". Anyway we'll see what it is when it comes in.

I checked out the "magnetic super tanker" cup under actual "field conditions" today while doing some grading and it worked perfectly. Another successful enhancement, though technically not to the L4310 itself, still a very useful attachment, since without it the whole tractor would be useless to me when the weather gets hot!

Here's a picture of the seat. It's still one of the greatest enhancements I've made so far. I spent all last week on the tractor and wasn't nearly as tired at the end of every day.

Here's another front view of the tractor on the job site last week. This one shows the two trapezoidal lights mounted on the canopy.

Here's a cropped shot of the rear of the canopy showing the two trapezoidal lights, far right and left, and the flood light, near right.

Well, the news on the $120 enhancement seat from Northern is strange. The one my friend ordered finally arrived. It's not made in Turkey, where mine was, nor China, where the Northern CSR said it was, but (drum roll, please) Italy!. On the other hand, the Turkish, Chinese, and, now, Italian seats all look like they come from the same manufacturer. I mean, they're almost identical. So somebody is copying somebody somewhere. I think we can all guess that the Chinese are guilty of it, and so are one of the other two, but which? At any rate, the $120 one from Northern is an excellent buy. It's very well made, has a little more travel than the one I got, etc. The only drawback so far seems to be the fact that it will require a little more work to retrofit the seatbelt to it. Mine has two predrilled holes in the seat-bottom with nuts welded to the back side, so it was a piece of cake, but the one from Northern will require a little more work. Otherwise, it appears to be at least as good a seat, if not better, than my $200 (almost) one.

MarkC, it seems you are just about ready to add a deck extension, (and a super-duper padded spring seat) then hire a chaufer to drive you around!

Ok, one more update on the seat Northern sells. My friend Jack got it installed on his L2250 today. Pretty easy job. Preliminary indications are that he's going to like his as much as I like mine, and that's saying something.

Gordon, I was going through this and looking for some of Mark's photos when I saw your statement here and in a previous one which was "Now guys we can't forget about P (watts) P= V+I or Isquared x R . Nothing like getting the old brain working. " Should it not be P = V X I? Rat...

No Rat it should be as follows:
V=volts
I=current or amps
R=restistance---ohms above items in ohms law

P=power or watts
I=amps or current
V=volts above items in watts law

Ok P=V x I yup you are right I did do a typo on that one Rat and it took five months for someone to pick it up or maybe your the first one to read that post./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
