I was talking about the sidewall, not the rim. What I meant, actually, was that close to a third of the tread was in contact with the ground. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the tire was buried up past the bottom of the rim.
It was some serious traction, as you said, and it took every bit of it to move those rocks. I wish I knew what they weighed. I know the front end loader wouldn't begin to lift them - it wouldn't even lift them well enough to roll them. I had to lift and push at the same time just to roll them into place.
