L4330 kubota and square baler

Ya I have heard a lot of guys say you just can't bale if you haven't got a 60-80hp tractor, but my old M4700 Kubota at 42pto hp with loaded rear tires and a front loader(bucket removed) had all the power and weight I needed to pull my 24t with an 8'x16' wagon full behind it. Of course, all my fields are flat, if I was in the hills maybe it would not have been so good. Now I got a M7040 4x4, cab, loaded tires, so I got no worries.

No issues with jarring, thats not bad but the hills are just too much to pull a wagon up. Even with just the baler I sometimes have to really slow down for the hills. When running wagons down the hills in the evening it can get a bit dicey when the dew is down.

The HST just doesn't beg to be overloaded in my experience either going up or down the hill. I don't like hearing that relief valve go.

On the flat, no troubles!

Slowzuki are you saying that weight is a problem in general or that with your 5030 weight is a issue i.e. you wish you had more of it. With the jarring of the square baler on these smaller tractors is it likely to tear or wear something prematurely or is it just a rough ride?

Slowzuki do you think the GST tranny would be a better choice. I am really trying to find a excuse to stay with the L- series because other than the 5-10 acres of hay that I might mess with I really think the smaller tractor would better fit my needs, but I dont want to look back and realize that I really needed more tractor. I can get a M series for not much more money but when I get ready to haul or work around the house i am not sure that I am going to be happy with it. Thanks for all the help.

I use an L4310 HST on my 10 acres of hay. Pull a NH 320 baler w/kicker and a hay wagon.
Yes, it would be nice to have a few more HP when I get some real heavy rows but it does fine. Just slow down a bit.
When I use my neighbors larger IH with 60 something HP it's real nice. But not needed for just a few acres.
