I tried to put this back together but it wouldn't fit. The new seal had a larger O.D. than original. First I thought I ordered the wrong part, but after some research this wasn't the case. I ordered the parts from Ronnie at http://http://www.tractorsmart.com/enter.htm so I gave him a call. He remembered a service bulletin about this install so he emailed me this.

After reading the bulletin we drove out the sleeve from the axle case. Here are pics showing where the sleeve used to be and with it totally removed.

With the old sleeve removed everything went back together with no problems.

It took about 2.5 quarts of gear lube to fill up bevel gear case and axle case which is seperate resevoir than main axle that has screw in dipstick. Also, I want to be clear on this. I highly recommend Ronnie at http://http://www.tractorsmart.com/enter.htm , without his help it could have been a trip to the dealer. My father in law was there every step to help because this is NOT a one man job. This stuff is heavy and it would be easy to get hurt.
One more thing about Ronnie, he charged me $30.87 for the new seal. I called two different local Kubota dealerships and they each wanted $52 for the part. This is a great forum.

Ken - its a great forum exactly because of members like you. Thanks for letting us all see this repair - not everyone would have the courage to tackle it. Great posts and pictures - great job.
