L45 vs L47 vs 110TLB? Which to buy?

For the kind of work you mentioned, I’d look into buying a used excavator 5ton range and a used track loader. You could probably get some fairly reliable ones for the price of a brand new L47. And an ex will work circles around a TLB except for front loader work requiring traveling.

I’d probably substitute the the track loader for a dump trailer to be pulled behind his current tractor. The 360 swing of an excavator is definitely beneficial for digging in creeks or ponds.

working on the machines isn't that big if an issue we own a jd450 straight dozer that im working on something big every other year.
the random clutch thing is on the left foot of the l45 is a clutch peddle and the l47 doesn't have this on them.
The creek issue isn't that bad either since I've been using the dozer last couple of times to clean it and some days my Buddys Kubota 2601 to clean it out with a lot of moving! haha

Good to know, thanks for sharing. I dont think the Tier4 stuff is that big of a deal, but I also havent owned another tractor save an Super H Farmall and an Belarus in the 80s. I havent had any issue with regen in my M62, but it is a consideration that you must evaluate for yourself. Some have had big issues, but most have none.

I dont have a price comp on the L47 for you, but my M62 was high 60s loaded ( hyd thumb with aux, 3 rear remotes, top n tilt, etc). Buy once, cry once. I demoed the L47 a few times...it is a great machine. I think the reach is 10 ft. The L47 is great for transporting.

If you can find a good single owner non rental L45, it sounds like a solid option. A few on tractorhouse if you are willing to travel.

The JD 110 is no longer made and if it had a quick attach on the FEL, it is JD's. You have to buy other options with that in mind. I loved this tractor years ago, but as they got older, a lot of problems with the transmissions.

Thank you for that transmission comment.
I have been considering a JD110....but now...maybe not so much!

Is there any practical difference between a L39 and a L45? I’m probably going to trade my L3800 for one of the 2. I wouldn’t be against a l47 but not likely to be found in a price I want to pay. I wasn’t completely against a b26 until I realized you couldn’t swivel the seat while sitting in it. The local Kubota dealer doesn’t have a L39 or a 45 in stock so I haven’t sat in either one. The primary use is going to be loader work and the loaders look identical.

scientific test: Kubota L39 v. L47 - YouTube

I looked into a 39 before myself but as far as I could tell its all in the specs (breakout force, lift cap, hp, weight) and the L45 vs 47 the ONLY thing I can find with them are DPF but the specs are almost identical. this video may help a little and give you a side by side of the l39 and 47 im not sure if you seen it yet.

75 lbs/ sheet. 2400 lbs. Boooo for both of those machines.

You do realize that that’s a only a 7,000 pound machine which includes the backhoe and loader. It’s probably not over 4,000 base tractor weight and it did lift it. That’s also a 4 feet wide load with greatly affects the lift strength vs a closer load. I don’t know of any machine in that size class that would do better. If there is I’m all ears. I’d also be interested to see a hydraulic pressure test on those 2 machines. Even if they failed at lifting I’d expect to see it pull the back of the machine up. My JD310 will easily lift the back of the machine off the ground with the loader and lift the front off the ground with the backhoe.

Yeah. I know. It’s just that lumber deliveries are always like that. Just a little too much weight for those types of machines. You read the specs on the machines and think wow. And then you go to lift something like that and you realize, oh yeah. I’d like to see how the M62 lifts those sheets.

The M62 is rated for 6,000 pound breakout force and 3,900 full height lift vs 4500 breakout force and 2,700 pound full height lift of the L45. Since the L45 did lift it I’m betting the M62 would do it no problem.
