A crossover relief valve is cheap & won't let line pressure spike to high. It's a more universal solution to as it will work just fine with a cylinder or a motor. It's also the simplest solution. The more complex & fancy things get, the more I appreciate simple system that just work with fewer failure points.

Thanks, that is a solution I did not know existed. That will most likely sway me away from another dedicated motor spool and control, thus saving me money and a more complex install. I appreciate it!

Any relief valve will heat up oil as it pushes open the valve. In the case of a PHD that will be insignificant amounts of heat. It might get toasty if it was a heavy rotary cutter or something with tons of momentum. Those typically have just a check valve so there is no resistance to flow when going into relief. No heat issues, but it means the circuit can't be run in reverse (not an issue for a mower, a deal breaker for a PHD & other stuff).

Yes. Most CUTS are 10gpm & 2,500psi so that would be appropriate. I'd set it to the top of its range a bit over 2,500psi. It comes at only 1,300psi by default.

Thanks for verifying.
