Well the 16 yr old Mongomery Ward 42" mower wouldn't start today, so without any research went out and purchased a new JD LA175. I was looking for a larger deck, 48"-54". The dealer said I should get 400-600 hrs out of the engine, which he gave me a rundown basically mowing 2.5 acres should give me 10 yrs of dependability. He did point me towards the x300 series but told me it would be about twice as much $$. Reason being is I'd go from a 2 yr warranty to a 4 yr warranty. Couldn't see the added cost especially since I will only be mowing with it. Pictures will follow sometime after delivery tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay. Got busy doing other things and never got back to the task at hand.

Congratulations!:D

It is a beautiful piece of equipment.
How many hours do you have on your LA175?
How is it mowing?
Do you like it? What do you dislike about it?

Thank you.
Regards,
FRIZ

Good looking mower you got there. I bought a new LA165 this year. Same lawn tractor, just a few less engine rpm for 2 less hp and a 6"smaller deck. been a good mower so far.

Thanks, I currently have just over 6 hours. Won't be long I'll add 2 more than give it it's first oil change. Mowing is great. It's cut a half an hour off my mowing time. I might be able to cut a little more time if I wasn't so use to mowing with one wheel at the cut edge. Yes I like it. I just need to give it a bath after next mowing. I didn't like having to push a buttton to mow in reverse. But the dealership told me I could bypass it with a jumper wire, they just couldn't do it for me. The only other dislike is I'm used to not having the gas all the way engaged and if I don't have it all the way on, it actually decreases more??? But everything else is :).

Thanks. I looked at the LA145, LA 165, and the LA175. Looking at the payment difference, the wife said just go for the bigger one, only $15 diff between the 145 and 175. Nice wife. Now if only things would come together to get my 3038e w/fel. But I can wait til next year.

any idea how to by pass the seat switch as i have alot of hills and bumps and it shuts down on me every 5 min. i find i cant hardly cough without it shutting down lol. it is really becoming a problem.
thanks

If it is shutting down while your sitting on it then the switch is defective and should be replaced. Not a good idea to bypass a safety switch.

I had that problem on my 2305 - the seat bounces when I shift around on it. The switch is not defective... If you lift up the seat the switch is right there. Disconnect it and put jumper wires into both the male and female connectors to short them. No more auto-shutoff...

Just be careful when mounting/dismounting the seat or you'll cut your foot off! Literally...
