gullagej,

Are you saying that this lock pin

(the one going up and down, and into the detent hole) is the one that jarred loose, thereby allowing the larger pin to self-extract?

When getting it fixed, have the holder raised up so that the pin is going thru more. I had one that I thought I hit the hole with the pin but didn't, caught it when the big pin was about half way out.

Yes, that's what happened. My pins slide up and down freely and that's the only way the big pin could have come out.

While I am waiting for mine to warm up I just thought of this. Not 100% fail proof but it was fast and easy. Maybe some of you guys can try this until you implement a more permanent solution.

That is a good one and it made me think of using of using a fat O ring.

Wow!

I have compassion on the OP because I would never have suspected that as a failure point.

If it was an aircraft, well yes that would be safety wired or some other more secure system, but gee whiz, its a tractor just chugging along, not even jumping hills like an ATV.

The "fat O ring" sounds viable.

I was thinking of those little green bands we used to have for castrating bull calves when I came up with the zip tie.

For that small pin to move up far enough and the big pin to have the weight off it and rotate,so small pin doesn't go back in slot and then have the big pin work it way out that's a lot. Freak deal. My brother put mine in and didn't drop the small ones in there hole, helping me but I noticed it when he done it and corrected it,first time he been around taking the loader off,he just leaves his on his mahindra. Its so easy I take mine off unless just really need it.
