Some hunters shot a hole in my house once. The bullet came through the wall and missed me by about 10 feet. It made me cranky.

That has to be an understatement of the year so far on TBN. :D:D:D:D

I am surprised it does not happen more around us during hunting season.....

They use had to belong to someone important what we thought. We told the sheriff the truck wasnt going anywhere till the owners claimed it. The aggravating thing other than the theft was the replacement of the 8D batteries, they are heavy trying to get them up into a 300 Komatsu hoe battery box is a pita.

I cant stand to be written off by the LEOs that responded. They ran the numbers on the tag and told us theyd call the owners to come get it. Then we told them the only way it would be released. Then we started taking pot shots at it. The deputies said there wasnt enough evidence for an arrest. Even though there was a few of our new 8D batteries, tools and all the radios and things.

We also have a share of hunters that brush shoot if they are trespassing. I had a customer in my shop the other day that was telling me he was on the throne and had a a stray round come in and knock the ceramic TP holder off the wall. The deer hunter had been feeding them o nthe side of the road. My customers house is in the corner directly in line with the feed piles.

His wife saw the teenager/ young adults and got thier tag number. They were also importan kids but had parents with common sense.

This strays a little, but one of the common courtesy things that annoys me, actually lack of, is signaling in a car. Why can't people use that lever on the steering column? I'll gladly let you in in front of me if you ask. But to just cut in?

Unfortunately in my neck of the woods a turn signal when someone wants in just makes the other car speed up to prevent it.

i dunno.. someone shoots at me.. i'm liable to return fire in self defense.. :) ;)

I'm with you...
My rifle is my best friend.....

I have only had a "few" shots fired at me.. and I fired back true and straight...

What really gripes me about hunters is that, at least in NC, there is this mandatory hunter's safety course.. without it, no hunting license...
and here we make vets take the course that have loads more knowledge of how to safely handle a weapon!

I live on a country dirt road and have seen all kinds of "accidents" along it and to the neighbor's property. Most of the people leave the scene so as not to get caught. It mostly happens on Friday and Saturdays, (at night). I would say most of the accidents are alcohol related or the people have suspended licenses or lack insurance and have to run so as not to get caught. That's the way it is around here. I would bet that 25% do not have insurance or have something against their driving record...why drive a moped drunk when you can drive your car drunk and not get caught with a suspended license.

That's just a fact of life living in the country. I have an S-curve on one end of my property. Going west, if you miss the S-curve, you end up dropping about 15 feet straight down and ending up in the creek. Most times the creek is pretty tame, but after a heavy rain it can be a raging torrent that carries logs and dead cows. In the 17 years I have lived here, the creek has eaten 4 cars. One couple was seriously messed up and had to be extracted by emergency crews after spending hours in cold water. They hit the creek bottom about 50 feet downstream of their takeoff point. They must have been really moving. Did I mention there is no cell service here? They are lucky my dogs told me something was wrong.

AFAIK, nobody has died on my corner, but there's another one just like it a mile to the east. Four guys died there a few years back. I heard the crash knocked them out, then the car floated back and blocked the culvert. When the water level rose, they drowned.

When I get a spate of trespassers, I just start dropping logs across the road. I try to judge the logs so I can lift one end and swing it out of the way if I need to get through, kind of like a gate. It helps to leave the branches on. Off roaders all have driveritis. If they have to get out from behind the wheel, they will go somewhere else. That's why so many gates and fences get driven through. Present them with an obstacle they have to negotiate on foot and it spoils their fun.

my comment was that simply 'lost' kids should not be breaking into some place.

lost is one thing.

criminal mischief and tresspass is another. lets not confuse the 2 because someone is a lil young and still ahs a cute face.

I meant for the deputies to say they were "lost" meant the deputies had to be making up an excuse to cover over the real reason they weren't arresting them for trespass. What other evidence do they need to make an arrest besides their stuck truck loaded down with somebody else's property?
