I live on a country dirt road and have seen all kinds of "accidents" along it and to the neighbor's property. Most of the people leave the scene so as not to get caught. It mostly happens on Friday and Saturdays, (at night). I would say most of the accidents are alcohol related or the people have suspended licenses or lack insurance and have to run so as not to get caught. That's the way it is around here. I would bet that 25% do not have insurance or have something against their driving record...why drive a moped drunk when you can drive your car drunk and not get caught with a suspended license.

Few years back we parked our car at Best Buy parking lot to buy TV or something. When returned the car was undulated from the tail lamp to the headlamp. So we went back to the store and asked to see the security camera replay. There it was. Big van is trying to squeeze in between my car and another car. My car is visibly shaking and in fact it moved about a foot but they kept going trough and just drove away. I looked around and saw same looking van parked on the other side of the parking and checked its bumper. There was paint like from my car. I called police but they said that it is inconclusive evidence and it will be hard to prove and left. My car was old junker so I just left feeling quite mad and bitter. I drove the car about one more year and was happy to get rig of it when radiator hose broke and I blew a head gasket on one side of the V6. It made it to junkyard where they gave me $100 for it.

We werent allowed cameras on that part of the job after 9/11. Its funny TVA security coulf find a camera on you but couldnt detect a fullsized pickup. We were private contractors there on the job. What wasnt stolen usually got trashed. THey ripped the door off the office trailer with the same truck with a rope tied to the door knob to the trailer ball. THe culprits didnt know the trailer had been broken into so many times that a good jerk would open it. That trailer had been hit by lightning and smoked a computer, radios and chargers and a ton of things. They were all in the back room waiting for garbage day. They stole all of that stuff. We worked the truck over pretty good.

We looked up after that and saw a couple loser looking kids walking down the dirt road shaking their heads. One day someone dropped a big boulder in the bed of it and it sat for a few days. It was posted in the paper as abandoned and later one of the workers loaded it for scrap. We expected anyday that we would find a dozer or loader crispy but it never happened. What was so bad we had called the sheriffs dept multiple times and couldnt get a tag run.
We figured they had taken about 1200 in batteries, countless machine windows, stolen welder leads, pumps vandalized and things like that.

The deputies that responded when we called after the truck was found with our junk in it was it was kids that got lost. I found it hard to believes as they cut a 5/8ths cable with neon pipe on it, cut hte lock off the metal gates and drove past a giant reflective sing no tresspassing lol.

Must be kids that belong to somebody "important" for them to be lost.

my comment was that simply 'lost' kids should not be breaking into some place.

lost is one thing.

criminal mischief and tresspass is another. lets not confuse the 2 because someone is a lil young and still ahs a cute face.

Some hunters shot a hole in my house once. The bullet came through the wall and missed me by about 10 feet. It made me cranky. I knew the area and where they had probably parked, so I called the Sheriff and then took a side cutter to all four of their valve stems.

My first impulse was to shoot back, but I thought better of it.
