Laid an EGG

Mine will start laying around August, have Production Reds and Plymouth Rock birds, also have two Roen female ducks...not sure what to do with their eggs. I originally wanted the ducks as meat birds but well, they became pets and they get along well with the 8 chickens.

My father raised geese and ducks for a while. One spring we had a big gathering and made ice cream using the eggs from his birds which came out very good. My mother somehow came up with a conversion from typical hen eggs for the recipe (weight or measuring cup).
Ducks are supposed to be good for controlling the slug population.

That's a nice looking egg. A friend gave us some geese and those are some impressive eggs!!! We've never tried eating the goose eggs, but our youngest puppy gets one on top of his dinner and he really enjoys them!!!

Never could get used to the taste of goose eggs. Not sure if it was the different taste or if they were to rich.

My birds are laying well;pheasant, getting 80+ eggs per day.Have two incubators full(708 eggs total) working on the third.I don't eat them but I have a guy that will take all my surplus.
I raise 500-600 per year for myself and sell chicks and eggs.

That is impressive. Why pheasant? Are they raised for hunting or butchering? A friend here tried raising a batch for hunting but native predators nailed almost every one. Good thing too because Fish & Game was getting testy over the situation. There were a couple of sightings over a couple of years and that was it. Can't release non-native species in to a native population.

I have one older hen that has always laid eggs that are extra large and wrinkled. She only lays about 2 or 3 a week now.
Somebody have any idea why they come out this way? Wife was selling eggs also. Idea was that the egg money would
go to purchase feed and supplies. Sold a lot of eggs, never seen a dime of it for feed. I think shes embezzling.

Wow, that is a wrinkled egg. We fed ours crumbled oyster shell when eggshells got weird.

Doofy. They have acces to the oyster shells plus I sprinkle some in the feed and they free range.
She is the only one that ever did this.

I guess it could be some other mineral deficiency or just something wrong with her egg laying parts.

I've never seen one like that either. Are the ridges just on the outside or do you also see them when you crack it open?
