We did this and much to my surprise, tree grow; who knew.

Sixteen years later and I see a few more should have come down and are now too big to drop without a professional topping them and taking them down.

That reminds me, wood doesn't grow on trees ya know! lol

One thing you need to remember is when a tree grows in the middle of a field it's much better able to withstand things like high wind. When they grow in the woods they grow taller to get to the canopy and light. Once you start cutting the trees around them down some of the ones left standing are no longer able to withstand the same winds and other forces they once did. Shade is nice but not having an unexpected tree fall where you don't want it to is usually nicer.

Selling 3" as pulp, 6-9" as chipn-saw, 9-11", as logs, 11-14" as logs, 14"+. Different prices for each.

Good deal. From the pics it looked like they were good enough to attract a mill's interest.

Been a while since I've posted. Had to take some time off with a broken foot but back at it the last two months.

The stump grinder is a Shaver. It is very nice but not mine. I hired a guy with a small family timber buisness to drop about 100, 20"+ pines. He did it all with a chainsaw and never hit not 1 hardwood. He was amazing. I gave him all the timber for grinding the stumps. He even piled up the tops, and hauled off several truck loads of smaller pines I had dropped.

Pad for shop is almost complete. Hit 60/40 while digging the pond, great for the pad.

Finally!! a temporary lift on the burn ban. Managed to get about 10 piles done in 2 days. Most all of the piles around the driveway, house pad and shop pad are gone. That makes me feel a lot better about starting to build anything.

Long time since I've posted anything. Slow but steady progress. Started the pole barn and should start the house in a couple weeks. DSC01470.jpgDSC01483.jpg
