Kubota L2501,
What do you all think about these grapples for an L2501?

The SGC0660 is 250 lbs (60 inches wide)

The SGC1060 is 390 lbs (60 inches wide)

Kubota rates the SGC1060 for the L3301, but not the L2501. Not sure why since they both have the same lift capacity. I like the tines on the SGC1060 much better. They stick out further past the support bar and also have little reverse hooks that can be used for back dragging. The tine spacing is much closer too. Overall just seems like a better grapple - but heavier than the SGC0660.

I have seen some posts on other forums where people have bought the SCG1060 for their L-Series Kubota and were happy with it. Anybody here have any opinions? Seems like most L-bottom grapples get into the 300's pound range and the center of gravity sticks out even further on those. How do you expect the L2501 woudl perform with the heavier SGC1060 with fluid in the tires and a box blade for ballast?

I know all about EA grapples and like them, but would like to focus the comparison on these models if possible.

I got the SGC0660 with my L2501 last month. I chose the 06 over the 10 because it is lighter. No regrets so far.

Some of the things I've used it on. 20181013_104420.jpeg20181013_091110.jpeg20181013_091102.jpeg

My first choice for a 2501 would be the 55 inch EA root grapple at 209 pounds; you can't do better. BUT you asked about the LP's only. It depends on what you're doing with it. If you're doing a lot of shallow ground work like ripping up broken ground and pulling up grass and bamboo shoots, and/or pulling out briars and brush, then I would get the 10 series and never look back. More tines closer together with serrations on the back dragging hooks would mean more to me than the weight. But if you need to pull out and lift/load trees/logs etc. then the weight disadvantage might manifest. If you have a 2501, then heavy hauling probably isn't your primary concern anyway. You can always cut down logs to a more manageable size if necessary.

I've got a L2501 and a LP SGC0660.

Had them both for three years now, they are a perfect match.

The teeth are all AR400 steel. Zero wear so far.

The machine is wider than that model grapple.

That alone is enough reason to pass.

Help me understand why a grapple should be wider than the tractor?

Same reason all attachments should be as wide or slightly wider, so that when in use the work engaging envelope of the attachment fully encapsulates the width of the tractor.

OK but I just don't get why a 6' wide machine moving a 12' wide load of log/brush with a 60" grapple that doesn't fully encapsulate the 12' wide load is a problem?

A grapple doesn't have to be as wide as tractor if you wont be using it heavily. Width gives you a little more stability handling the brush/logs, but it's not like a mower that you need to cover your tracks. My machine is 82"wide, my grapple is 78" ...works just fine20181026_114107.jpeg20181026_112729.jpeg
