Now you got me thinking..... I am having doubts on the front. I will have to go look after while. We have never rolled an Aljon. They are pretty wide. We had a Rex a long time ago, we rolled that several times. Weight is the big issue. 127,000 is pretty heavy.
I checked out the Tana, they do not list a dealer in the USA. Aljon is made in Ottumwa, Iowa. Have been to the factory there. Pretty cool, everyone is very helpful.
The Cat machines were not heavy enough either. I think they were in the 60,000# range.
I will try and go look afterwhile. Let you know.

I made a mistake. The front axle does not pivot. Just the rear.
The operating weight is 126,000# not 127,000.

( They say the meter must show a 3-to-1 grade.
Why is this?)

It's a commonly specified maximum slope for earth embankments. It's said to be the steepest slope that can be machine mowed safely.

Thanks Hambone I thoguht it might pivot on in the rear then have a leveller pivot on the front like a Lull lift. I welded on an Al Jon sccrap yard loader that had the tongs that disembowel a car. As usual when i fix something I test it lol the loading forks set on top of the cars hood and fender and it reaches in and puls out motor transmission and the fron of the chunk lol The fact it was designed for scrap yards it has all the features you want a telescopic boom, hydrostatic drive hand controls and all.
Al Jon has a good rep with all the car handlers here.

Currmudgeon,
I was aware of the mowing limit, but was not sure why it was
so important in a landfill. A customer told me when I was at
the Louisville Farm Show last year that he thought it had
something to do with rain run-off. Said he thought that any
slope steeper than 3-1 grade would cause run off, rather than
allowing rain to soak in. Also he said steeper than 3-1 grade
was more likely to cause rutting of soil. He said he was no
expert, but that is what he had heard from someone that had
worked in a landfil. He said his friend told him they use to use
a small steel dow rod, and made a bell for it to hit when they
got around a 3-1 grade and the rod started hitting the bell
when machine tilted. However, it had alot of nuisance ringing
and was not a very good solution. His friend could not attend
show, and asked him to buy a few 3-1 meters if we were at
the show again that year. Maybe it was a local issue for
that particular landfill. Just thought I would ask. Thanks for
your reply. Rick
