Landlord Experiences?

Richard,

You certainly don't need my approval of you actions, but I'll give them to ya anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'd say that was perfectly reasonable action to a problem landlord. We've never had any shared utilities except for a shared well with the neighbor at one house. They payed power for six months and we paid for six months. All future tenants were told upfront and if I remember, was on the contract. Been a few years. The City put in water and sewer service so that arrangement ended.

I have been following this thread and I must admit that I have led a sheltered life. I can't imagine some of the things that have happened to you guys. We will be faced with having to rent my Mothers place in a couple of years and after reading the replies here, I am thinking of having a controlled burn for the local volunteer fire department. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My wife and I just bought our home a couple of years ago from my Grandfather. We have never owned a home before. Our last landlord offered to lower the rent to keep us from moving out. We had lived in his house for seven years and treated the place as our own, and I guess in that respect as long as we paid the rent and took care of the place, it was our home. We have always left a place in better shape than when we moved in.

I would hope that when it comes time to rent Moms place out we will be able to find some one that will treat her place as their own. Kind of scary. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
