Landscape rake power angle question

I want to install a power angle cylinder on my landscape rake. Any suggestions as to size of cylinder are appreciated. Also any pit falls to avoid? How do you measure to find the best cylinder for the application. The tractor is a Kubota BX22 with a 1800 PSI / 5 GPM pump output. Thanks...

I would guess that a 2" or 3" bore 2500 psi double acting cylinder with a rod diameter of 1.125" to 1.5" would be adequate. These typically have 3/8 NPT ports. If you rake is lightweight the 2" would be just fine.

A welded cylinder is probably overkill so I would go with the inexpensive Chief cylinder from Surplus Center. A cylinder with a 6" stroke will set you back less than $60 without shipping.

Your wanting to do the very same thing that I would like to do to my Landpride rake. Please keep us posted as to your progress.
I was thinking of devising a way to use my snowplow cylinders to angle my rake. Use them on my rake in the summer and put them back on my snowplow for the winter.
I haven't taken time lately to think the process through.

I thought of this also, but I don't know if it will work because of the design of the hydraulic valve. The snow plow pistons are single port pistons. Also, some snow plow pumps operate at a lower PSI, so I don't know how well the cylinders will hold up to the tractor hydraulics.
