Hi all... I did a search but am coming up empty.

I'm still a newb regarding tractors--this is my first tractor and this will be my first landscape rake.

I'm looking for recommendations for my BX2350. I'd like to try and get as large a rake as possible, but I do not know what my BX can handle. I'm sure a 48" will work fine, a 60" could work, but I'm not sure if a 72" is too big.

I intend to use this rake (1) for spreading loam to plant grass, (2) to rake debris from land I recently had cleared of trees/stumps, and (3) to possibly maintain a 200' long gravel driveway for a home we may purchase this year.

I'd also like a rake with a wheel kit so I can control the depth. Is a wheel kit generally recommended, or is it a waste of money? Again, I've never used a landscape rake before...

Would a cheaper rake (sub $500) from Northern Tool be ok, or should I just suck it up and buy a Land Pride or Woods rake? I sent away for quotes today (Sunday) so I hope to hear back this week on pricing. My gut tells me they're going to be around $1000 though.

Thank you in advance for any replies!

I have run landscape on smaller Yanmar tractors

Sorry hit send before I was completed. Anyway I have run landscape takes on smaller Yanmar tractors. The smallest I ever ran was a 5 foot no wheel kit. I don't think putting a 6 foot on would've been a problem. They don't take much power to pull. Your biggest problem will be tails swing if you're getting up close to things. I have never used the wheel kit before. I always purchased the TSC brands and never had any problems.

I have a Priefert 5 ft rake with wheels. Works fine on the BX. The wheels allow you to adiust them and the toplink to set a chosen gap below the times for delicate raking or spreading.

A 4ft wouldn't cover wheel tracks when angled. A 6ft wouldn't fit my many narrow spaces, even angled.

I have the Woods compact rake with wheels. It worked perfectly on my BX. It is 5' wide. I now have a B 2620-I could handle a 6' full size rake but mine still does all I want it to. I paid $650 for mine 8 years ago.

Right after I bought my 2001 BX-2200 a friend offered to bring his 6' rake over so I could try it. I don't remember the name brand on the rake but it was for full size tractors. The spread of the lifting arms was not sufficient to allow easy attachment of the rake. I got the rake on and found the rake bound up and not working right. Just measure the distance between lifting arm ends to be sure all will work smoothly. I then bought a KK 5' rake which worked well. Now I have a Land pride 6 ' rake on my Kubota L3800. Probably will never use the 5' rake again. :D

I think a 60" it shall be... I don't think the TSC or King Kutter rakes offer a wheel kit though. I'll have to Google that further. Thanks!

This is just my opinion...based on my experience using a Woods 60" LR...

If you use the tractor for grading works (as in the 200' drive etc.)...I would put the cost of a wheel kit towards a Tilt & Trim package...

Woods wanted more than I paid for the rake (like new at auction) for a wheel kit...using the rake with T&T I found no need for wheels...(side link tilt cyc. is the ticket)

The rake is the best attachment I have for general gravel drive maintenance and recovering gravel that has migrated to the wayside...set the rake at an angle for smoothing wash-boarded areas...

Good Luck...

Van Halen,
I just bought a TSC 6' Landscape rake. I used it to rake aprox 4 acres and It worked great. $499 price tag plus a discount made it even better. Well built! I know there are a lot of great ones out there. This TSC brand did exactly what I expected it to do. Good luck.
