...ONE of my reasons for this is that I get next to no life out of bubble jet cartridges, they dry out from lack of use and I never know when I will be not printing for long periods, so have never tried any "lay up" procedures.
Supposedly laser printers don't suffer so much from lack of use.
We don't even use an inkjet anymore for the very reason that you mentioned... dried cartridges from lack of use. We have a black and white laser printer, and any color prints are done at work or taken to a print shop. It's surprising how little you need color when you don't have it at the house. It's also surprising how much paper you can go through when it's as fast to print 10 pages as it is to print one on an inkjet.
