I am “different” when it comes to the trending view of wealthy people. I am thankful for them and wouldnt be where I am without them. Wealthy people spend money and create jobs.

i knew there was something i liked about u. Just didn’t know what until now LOL!

Time to stoke some machine envy.

We had a severe windstorm last Fall; the town lost on the order of 200 "town", not private, street shade trees. The municipal DPW contracted with a tree service for this behemoth. According to the operator it has a 40" capacity, is powered by a 750 HP motor. When a dump truck arrived to take a load of chips I started to move away expecting noise. I was surprised, it was remarkably quiet--I suppose European noise restrictions. The grapple on the curb side picked up and fed the trunk and it burped the chips into the dump truck.

I want a mobark but that’s more of a fantasy. Im sure the operating cost is absurd plus the purchase price plus and there’s no real need here anyway with low burn restrictions.

On the one hand you could pass the expense on to your wealthy client. OTOH he probably did not acquire his wealth by profligate spending.

It wouldn’t be any use for that job but have you seen these? This looks like it could be a profitable machine especially compared to using a crane.

I have growing interest in land clearing, but I couldn’t imagine starting another business with all the equipment.
I will have to be content with renting and using what I have.
Its really not a bad gig. No repairs, insurance, or equipment storage.
They have a “tree guy” they like and I think they said he didn’t want the work!
I do like clearing land to be used by me later for farming.

I’m working on cleaning up 25 acres for a future development. I need a bigger trackhoe but there’s not a lot to be had and after I find a bigger trackhoe I’ll probably sell my 410 backhoe and get a dozer.

So what is the next step after that picture? Gather it up and chip? Burn? Just wondering. Jon

My brother and his sons log in Northern Michigan and use a Ponsse processor. Like this.

Whole tree processor in that it cuts at the stumps, lays it down, strips off the branches while cutting the trunk to lengths. Kind of like the Russel unit above, in post 36. Jon
