Larger bucket

My first winter with my B2920, and it has worked out very well. I have the 3PH snowblower (B2789) and left the FEL on for the deeper drifts. As it turns out I would love to have a 60" bucket for snow as opposed to the 50" that came with the tractor. Do I have any options for this? Bad idea?

There is nothing that is a perfect match or offered by kubota that is larger for that group of tractors in the price book.

When kubota builds their tractors they are looking for a good balance for everyone and everything, unfortunately your application of snow removal is on an extreme end. I say that as if it was a bucket full of wet dirt you would find that it might be just a tad to big!!

I'd take the time with your bucket to compare the pin hole vertical spread and from side to side as well as the diameters of the pins and shop other kubota buckets that are used on larger tractors.

I would make it a point to only use this larger bucket for lighter loads!!! For some an adjustment of load volumne would allow it for all purposes but if you feel the need to always have a full bucket you could be in trouble! Ballasting could add to the load you might like to carry but remember that the more you add the more limited you might be for other applications.

hey great advice from Art & Roy,I believe the B3200 60" which I have On my B3200 would fit. But as Art said you could forget that and try to pick up a heavy load and that could spell trouble.You could add a quick hitch to you tractor so you could swap between light bucket to heavy bucket.

Well, DUH!. Of course, if I put a QA on I guess I could use any bucket that has QA. Yeah, I'm aware of the weight limitations of my tractor so the larger bucket would be only for snow. I may be putting on a QA so I can swap forks on and off anyway.......so looking for a used bucket might be wasier than i though. I shudder to think what Kubota might want for a new B3200 bucket. Thanks guys.

I don't know the details of the attachment pins, but the OBVIOUS flexibility of skid steer compatibility has already been mentioned.

According to WHERE you are; "light material", "snow", or "turkey litter" bucket might be terms used for large volume low weight capacity buckets.

I have seen PLYWOOD used to extend the floor and sides of buckets forwards to add capacity for horse farm use, which on THAT farm was mostly moving dry slightly soiled wood shaving bedding to the manure pile. (plus maybe a few pounds of road apples per stall).

If you get the snow early you could probably use plywood extensions and it would save on driveway scoring... You just can't scrape at the ice 3 weeks later (-:

I have a Massey GC2610TLB. My bucket is 4' wide and no other sizes are available. I'm planning to build my own, 6' wide and also a little deeper to move snow. A number of members here have expressed their opinion that it's not a good idea, and why. While I have considered their advice and appreciate receiving it, I still plan to do it. Total costs of $250.00 or less are bearable if it doesn't work out. The hardest part is trying to decide on a design for a quick attachment as It will have to also work for some other attachments I'm planning. Yes this is a bit of a hobby and you're allowed to laugh if I do something stupid.

Thanks for that price list, those are actually a but cheaper than I expected. A 60" Light Material bucket may be just what I'm after.

I've been told the forks from the B3200 will fit the smaller tractors (2920), I suspect the same is true of teh buckets.

Alright Fred, I went out and did a little measuring, the mounts are the same!!! Good to know info.

The 50" which is your standard bucket is 125 lbs and the 54" for the 504 loader B1625 is the same weight in the book(might be a few lbs heavier as the metal measures the same thickness.

The 60" B1626 is 25lbs heavier so you can still load it well with the snow. To add the quick disconnect will add another 50lbs which will reduce the load. The old retail is 559.

I would do it if you want and not worry about it. I'd put larger buckets on and had problems so I normally work with caution. You might find for many things that the larger bucket would not be to bad other then in dirt work! Good Luck!

Thanks for that...good info. I think I'll go talk to my dealer about that bucket, gotta go there and inquire about the forks anyway.

I've got the large bucket on my b2620 with the QA - also the b3200 forks. It's great. With loaded tires and Ballast box I'm fine.

Yes, I got the QA. I swap the two buckets (small one has a tooth bar) and forks and a homemade snowplow around quite a bit. Works good. I can pick up what I need to for homeowner type work, fairly decent sized rocks etc. It will even lift the large bucket filled with dirt or gravel but I don't do that to much.

I think you already got your answer, but it's basically a wider light duty bucket. I've only seen aftermarket pusher buckets (no OEM) but don't really have a need for one (my plowing is only a 150' drive plus a parking pad...plus plowing my neighbors occasionally).
Anyway, do a web search for "Snow Pusher" or "Snow Pusher Bucket" and keep an eye on Craigslist.
