Late model GM[C] turn signals

Last weekend, I rented a moving truck, which was based on a late model 1 ton GMC van. The turn signal in this truck was a very bizarre sound, in that I felt like I was playing Pong on an old Atari or something. For anyone who has a late model GM, is this the normal sound, or is it that this was probably one of the modifications made for a rental vehicle?

Just curious.

The rental company may have added a different style flasher that makes more noise so you can hear it. You'd be surprised how many people who rent a truck drive down the road with a turn signal on and don't realize it because they can't hear it blinking.

Speaking of GM[C] turn signals; have you ever noticed the number of GM[C] trucks & SUVs with one of the Daytime Running Lights out? I can't remember which side is more prevalent. I drive on the wild byways of Atlanta and I see at least two or three a day. I don't what model years are most affected but I would say the 2000 to 2005 model years. Is it just me?

Its all years. I notice it every day. I would say 1/2 the GM trucks and SUV's I see have one or the other out. I guess it just uses a bulb with not much life????? Not sure.

Maybe that, but also laziness of people. They aren't a required light, so people just don't bother to fix them. They are probably burning as long (number of hours wise) as brake lights, but they are just on for a lot more time. Since they are burning a lot brighter (and hotter) they don't last as long as a typical tail light bulb.
