...and you must wear rose colored glasses. It's a production item, built to production tolerances.

I'm a journeyman tool and die maker by trade and he could buy me dinner (I prefer steak and lobster) and I'd tell him just what I stated above....

Nope,

I do not wear rose colored glasses.

I maintained, rebuilt and repaired belt conveyors and conveyor drive units used in mining service as part of my job.

These conveyors used 200 plus horsepower 480 volt electric three phase motors, reduction gearboxes, 220H 2 row chains using oil bath lubrication.

These belt conveyors also had to be aligned properly to rotate just as this snow caster should be running and it is obvious that it is not correct from this Youtube video provided by Messicks Farm Equipment.

As I stated earlier the chain drive should simply hum with an even resonance when at any R.P.M.

Why is it when someone doesn't accept crap quality there's always those who get on their case about it?

My comment is simply those conveyor units weren't mass produced items so alignment would be more critical.

This blower is a cookie cutter machine produced in numbers for non-commercial application at I (already know) a non-commercial price point.

It has everything to do with price and production enviroment tolerances and nothing to do with commercially designed, purposed and engineered conveyor systems.

You need to clean those rose colored glasses.....:)

The $4000.00 U.S.D. cost of this snow caster plus the freight cost and fuel surcharge expense paid by him to Messicks for this "NON PRECISION" snow caster are reason enough to request a full refund for all expenses incurred by the purchaser.

A two or three wheel bicycles chain drive is used more, and has more precise construction in manufacturing than this Woods snow caster.

They have had three chance to fix or repair the issue, he deserves a full refund to him of all expenses paid by him to Messicks Farm Equipment.

Like I said this would never never occur on a Normond or Pronovost Snow caster.

Somehow, I don't buy into that analogy. My neighbor has a Pronovost and the drive sprocket wobbles a bit and the paint is flaking off. It's the way it is bub....

He deserves exactly what he got, a non commercially acceptable repair on a value priced unit. Woods are certainly on the low end of the scale of acceptability in my opinion, compared with Prono or Normond or Lucknow.

That covers this whole debacle in a nutshell....

Let me give you the straight scoop.....

It's a weldment so it will runout a bit both laterally and radially (which is why the chain noise isn't steady). That's why it has a trensioner sprocket, to take up the slack.....

Far as I'm concerned, Messicks went above and beyond to satisify your whining. Go get it and be glad Messicks fixed it. If I was a dealer (of implements) which I'm not, I would tell you to go pound it.....

You have a serious attitude problem. Whining? No demanding what I expected when I bought a well respected name. Your happy with crap, good for you, sorry Im a perfectionist, my jobs are right, my equipment is clean, my equipment operates properly. Youre the same guy that was giving 4shorts a whole load of crap for being over the top if I remember correctly. Do you have an issue with others having high expectations of quality? Tell me to pound it? How bout you do, and if you have nothing benificial to say go troll some other thread.

Gee, big difference between commercially acceptable for mass production and something one off. You said it, my, my, my.....

Pound it wasn't personal but rather a blanket statement. Messicks did what they were supposed to do and that was repair the blower using parts supplied by the manufacturer. What do you want? Custom made replacement parts? I suggest that if you are comfortable with that, send Messicks the funds for one off made replacement parts.... Somehow I don't believe you are that charitable, or gullibile.

You'd last about one 8 hour shift in the real world.

I suppose you want your underwear stiched in slik thread too.....

So tell us your REAL thoughts.....

Rick, I was actually surprised this was not the case. The sad part is the auger felt actually very well balanced, to the point I even commented to myself about it. Thier welding procedure is warping the sproket butt plate causing miss-alignment and wobble, therefore causing the chain slap. I have to disagree with you and roy on this being normal, or I should better say acceptable. Its not just noise, the chain slaping actually rocks the blower off the ground enough you can feel in in the cab of the tractor. Many other posters have chain drive units that run perfectly smooth. The Woods engineers admitted they had a quality control issue and tried steps to correct it, they just didnt work well...

OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Job Opportunity!!!
