Soundguy Yeah, I was kidding you. You might check that the four double window 'cliff sensors' are clear.
Right now I'm sitting at my desk keeping the roomba from getting into the rat's nest of wires with my feet.
The manual is pretty poor. It talks about the beep signals and doesn't list them. You have to go to the forum to get that info. I didn't know about the handle or pull out front wheel till you posted about them. My front wheel collected quite a bit of lint.
I'm using the lighthouse for the first time now and it works. But I understand that their claim of four rooms is an exageration. The battery won't last that long.
If you use and charge your roomba twice a day I expect that it will last only three to ten months. And that's not the fault of the design. NiMH batteries will only recharge 200 to 500 times. It's lucky that they don't supply Nicad batteries or it would be even worse. If they used Lion (lithium ion rechargable) it would be much better but the replacement cost these days would be three times as much.
I see they just came out with a model 580 but that just adds a brush kit to the 570 for a hundred dollars more. Still some people like to pay more for something in the belief that it must be better.

Yep the little windows are crystal clear.. however.. i believe i-robot does not invest in the best sensors. our first model, was taken back because it 'went blind'.. the little sensor at the top went bad... I'm guessing they use a simialr design for the bottom sensors..

I am on my fourth or fifth roomba over the years, and never have had a warranty complaint, or problem other than the batteries. The only thing that has ever happened to me is the rubber wheel came apart after hanging up on something sharp once. Right now we have two of them and the secret is to not to try to clean too big of an area with one we do two rooms max and usually only do one with them. We have the ones with the bases etc, but still only manually start them and then let them run in a small to medium sized room. Clean, charge repeat, they work very well for us, we have tile, hardwoods and carpet.

Had to.. got hundreds of dollars tied up into that plastic little piece of sh- er junk.. so to get another unit had to renew the extended warranty that went out... It was either that or take the store to small claims court to get all my money back for the originl purchase plus the ext. warranty.... which I seriously considered doing...

Hmm? don't think I've ever seen any clothes for a roomba.. however.. if it needed a hat.. they should make little garbage can lids for them.. at least it would be truth in advertising...
