Now I've seen everything... they make clothes for the little piece of junk vacume cleaners that break every 2 weeks! Who would have thought?

Now that's just scary to think about!

I think they need a roomba support forum so people can keep the little pieces of garbage running .

Given what I've seen.. the chinese tractors are decades ahead in the form of durability and value than these plastic temporary wads of garbage marketed as vacume cleaners

iRobot does have a support forum. It's mostly people screaming they want their money back or thier Roomba's have broken and how crappy the support is. There is one other Roomba forum not run by iRobot. Roomba, Scooba, Looj and iRobot Verro Community - Roomba Review

I'm a pretty mechanicallly and electrically oriented guy... According to the documentation.. my house should be close to an ideal environment.. IE.. tile everywhere.. no rugs.. no door thrsholds except at exterior doors, no power cords across the floor, no tassles on furniture or low hanging curtains.

given that these little junkers break down so much tells me that they aren't a real strong product. I could understand if I got 1-2 bad ones.. but I'm heading into double digits now...

I've gotten two replacements from Roomba as they break (both times still in warranty). So now I have three Roomba Reds that don't work. One has a bad motor, one has faulty charge connector and the last one I'm not sure what's wrong, but I figure I'll part out one for the other and see what I can get to work. When it works I'm pleased with the job it does. I think it's a case of cool technology that hasn't yet met it's time.

I think that's a fair assessment. Technology with a cool factor that is not ready for mainstream use.

i guess those of us suckers buying them are financing their 'wide area beta'.. etc.

What you all need to do is pool the non-working ones and combine the parts into one that may (or may not) work.. LOL

I'm seriously thinking more along the lines of pooling all the owners of the non working units and filing class-action status on I-robot.

With that many people complaining about non working units as I've seen.. looks like it is more than a small issue.
