Help? Is there such a thing as a lawn rake? I have a dog that trashs my 2 acre lawn weekly. I have a lawn sweeper and that just don't do it. It picks up little stuff, leaves and grass cutting. But not the peices of limbs, plastic, pears, apples and paper bones etc. She climbs the trees to get dead limbs. Please don't give me advice on what to do with her, we love her to much for that. Someday she will grow up.
I'm looking for something to pull behind my lawn tractor. If I could just rake it up into piles that would be enough. I have searched the web, but didn't find anything. I did find mention of a finger wheel, but that sounds like it would mess up the grass. Any ideas. I was thinking of attaching a bunch of fan rake heads to a axle to pull. what do you think?

There are landscape rakes, but they can tear up grass if you set them too low. Mine works great on pine needles, sticks, twigs, etc. It scrapes up the grass a little though, but my lawn isn't nice enough yet for me to care though.

Put a broom on the front of the tractor. That will move most anything, and you can set it just above the grass. It will even move gravel from the grass if you want it to.
Deere Broom

No idea what you have for a tractor.
So just shooting from the hip, and maybe hit something. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The landscape rake would be too big. But that's the idea. If I would find a 3 foot one with smaller tines. The large ones would rip up the grass. I will have to use the riding mower 23HP. The Ford or JD are too big to get around most of the lawn. But if I build one like yours but with a smaller frame and put yard rake tines on it, it just might work. Time to get out the CAD program. If any one has any ideas, speak up now, I have the habit of over killing. So all suggestions will be accepted. Thanks.

JD3130…
If you are really thinking about over kill /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif, I have always thought a PTO driven ‘miniature’ side delivery rake, like the large ones used in haying would be so nice for lawns /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. There may be such a thing commercially available… But I’ve never came across one.

The landscape rakes already recommended may be the most practical… you may want to mount gauge wheels on for your application. KennyV.

Actually if You look up a post named "Dethatching" in attachments I posted a url for a mini-wheel rake , not pto powered but just like a wheel rake for haying.
Available in 4 foot or 8 foot sizes.

I am thinking this may be what You want or close to it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Welcome to TBN
How about a York rake?
Here's a couple pics of mine.
It's pulled behind a garden tractor or ATV. Has wheels and height adjustment.
I made a dolley between the ATV and rake to make it float better, easier turning and if the rake jumps for any reason, it won't hit the towing vehicle.

Thanks for all the great ideas, guys!
I liked the little hay rake, I contacted the company, but shipping to Texas cost as much as the machine. Same with the York rake. I can't use the 3 pt type because I have to keep it small enough to pull with one of my mowers. But I did get a bunch of ideas. I went to the salvage yard, picked up some used steel. Boy prices are sure going up. .28 a LB. it was .12 last yr. I'm off to TSC in the morning and D&D to see what they have in the way of tines. I'll post some pics once I get a working idea.
PS, I'm still a newbie, what does PM mean (Post Me?)
