Does anyone have a source or know if they make attachments for lawn tractors, just something to hook up to the small hitch?
More specifically I am looking for a pull behind rake that I can gather up the fallen black walnuts with. I could use my landscape rake and my L3130, but I'm looking to be more maneuverable around the trees and not sink in as much on this saturated ground we can't seem to get rid of.
I saw someone up the road dragging a leaf catcher (the kind you normally push and walk behind) to gather leaves, but I'm not sure this would work on the walnuts.

Thanks,
Fred

Fred,
Agri-Fab makes 3 pt hitch equipment for towing behind an ATV. You do need a special trailer that serves as the 3 pt hitch. If you got just the trailer you could use you landscape rake.

Hey, that's pretty cool. What will they think of next?
Thanks for the link.

I do like Agri-Fab products for small things.
Wasn't aware they got into the products from that link.
I have heard that just because these types of products have been made, thay may not be that good. (e.g. the FEL that's been made for an ATV).

A neighbor uses a front-mounted broom that does a great job of brushing walnuts off the lawn. Only thing I have seen that will do the trick. A bit expensive, but also works for other 'lawn raking' chores, including putting gravel back on the drive.
The walnuts just move a bit and fall through the landscape rakes, that I have tried.
Only thing that works for me is a hand-operated rake, the kind with the long handle. Even then, it takes some scratching to get the walnuts to move along.
Hope this thread finds something, before the squirrels pick them all up. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, they are a pain in the butt to rake by hand. It's hard to get the rake through the grass to the ground and rake it along as I'm sure you're aware of. I was hoping a fine tined rake would be available.
I have since talked to my bota dealer and he said they really don't make a light duty rake for a drawbar attachment, they are very similar to a regular 3pt rake and still around $600. Youch!

The squirrels did a good job of knockiing them all to the ground, but they don't seem to be disappearing...

I have looked into that Agri-fab 3-point trailer. If you look closely you will see that the rake (or any other imp.) is raised and lowered by a winch and cable, therefore it has no resistance to upward force. That means the imp. needs A LOT of weight on it. I really like the idea but it has that major drawback. I don't think that a standard 3-pt rake would work without modification to add weight.

Pretty interesting rakes. I wonder how a pecan compares with a black walnut still in its husk?
They aren't that much, I think I'll give them a call later today and talk to them.

Thanks for the link ddbuck

There is a company that makes one that looks like a reel mower. It has fingers to hold the pecan and a basket to collect. I don't have the address with me now.
