absolutely!:thumbsup: I can't understand why he did this!. a lawn tractor for 25,000 sq. ft.? it'll take a VERY long time to mow that!. AND it won't last long!..

Say what? My father's Wheelhorse cut the five acres here for about 32 years, with a 12hp gas engine and a 42" deck. Yeah, it took a long time, but it lasted awhile, too.

I use a 1996 Wheelhorse 520H with 60" deck to mow my 1+ acre yard. I've got about 20 trees to mow around, 4-5 flower beds, pretty standard stuff. I can do the whole thing in about an hour. Could probably cut that down a bit with a zero-turn but to get something made to last 20+ years is way out of my price range. I gave $1000 for this setup 4 years ago. Same machine runs a 48" front mount snow blower in winter. I don't see why a lawn tractor wouldn't work for this yard.

you can't compare the quality of a 32+ year old lawn tractor with a new one, they are not made to last today!. unless you spend a LOT of money, $thousands.. $3000 is not nearly enough..

Good used lawn/garden tractors from days gone by are still out there. Is used not an option for the OP?

Don't know about snow blade since not really an issue here..... But half acre....unless the part that doesn't fall under "mostly flat" is horrible, just about any riding mower does everything else. The crappiest little Lowes 42" I ever had would pull a dump cart or roller or spike aerator designed for a riding mower just fine.

We have about 1/2 acre of lawn, plus a long driveway and some area around one of the ponds that we mow with riders. The wife has a cheapo Murray that she has used for years. Tried to shift her over to a newer Deere, but the old Murray is low to the ground so it doesn't spin or get tippy on the steeper parts. (Darned thing just keeps running and running..). I'm in the midst of rebuilding a 1986 JD 214 to do some of the areas that our other mowers don't care much for. It made it's first lap around the driveway last weekend so now I need to get it painted and finish putting it back together.

i would take a look at the cub xt3, the jd 500 and 700 series and the husqvarna equivalent. The Cub has a lot of features and will be cheaper. I have 95' cub of that same size/capability and do like it quite a bit. stick with something that you will have a dealer support with.

no need for a subcompact or compact. I have about 30k sq feet of grass to mow and its an hour and a half on my cub with a 42 in deck. i also use it for an aerator, cart, drag for my gravel drive and snow plow.
