thats a little over a half acre, we mow my fathers just under 2 acres with a 48 innch cut craftsman . takes about 2 hrs , been doing that for 40 yrs. with several different mowers over the yrs. i mow it now with my ztr in 45 min.

A 1/2 acre (25,000 sq ft) isn't a lot of area to mow. A bit much with a push mower but just about any riding lawnmower can handle it for many years especially since it is flat ground.
As for pushing snow with it, you should have kept your 1025R. I would say the X700 series would be about the smallest that could handle that job and you wont be getting much smaller tractor than the 1025.

When we moved and downsized I kept my zeroturn so I didn’t have to take a step backwards regarding mowing time.
Overkill is underrated.

Depends on the lawn tractor if it is diesel or not.My JD X740 has the yanmar diesel engine with 7 iron 60 inch deck.I am pretty sure it would last 25 years with normal maintenance.My 1996 ingersoll 4020 lawn tractor with a 20 hp onan gasser is going strong with 740 hours.

A agree. The lawnmower trans isn’t built to push snow. A heavier duty one like the 700 might handle it but the little tractor transmission is a lot beefier. And the whole thing is a lot heavier duty. Not to mention a x700 diesel cost as much as the tractor does. I’ve never understood why anyone would buy a x700 mower. They’re priced as much or more than a commercial zero turn and if you’re dead set again that they’re priced as much as sub compact tractor. I seriously doubt a 300 series would take plowing snow very long.

My 9' NH 479 with a JD 1070 does a pretty nice job on my 1,001,022 sq. ft. property. I chose the 9' instead of the 12' so I could get thru my 3660 mm farm gates.

That is what I was thinking. I know that does not help. I just fear that you will end up spending more for less.
