Laying flexible pipe with subsoiler

/ Laying flexible pipe with subsoiler #11
I have not used a subsoiler but I have used a single bottom plow many times to run pipe that I want to bury. I just did it two days ago. I ran 100 feet of 1 inch gas line and did not want to go very deep because it was over a septic field. The single bottom plow was perfect. trench was about 6 to 8 inches deep with minimal shovel work. Hardest part was uncoiling the pex gas line. From set up to backfill by myself was probably only around an hour and a half. I have also used this method to run water lines but I always winterize them in the winter. I would say this would work well up to a 2 inch outside diameter pipe/tube for a small single bottom plow.

There are lots of ways to lay your pipe but the simplest is to get the pipe layer attachment.

Run your subsoiler with the pipe attachment in place both ways to ensure no obstructions in your path.

Get a buddy to help feed the pipe and have at it.

Doing the steps above my friend and I laid 200' of 1" field pipe in 30 minute including a stop to splice the 2 rolls together in the middle.

The pics are before I ran the tractor over the line to knock down the berm we made.

You can see the project manager inspecting the job.

Because the start point was close to a footing I used the post hole digger and drilled 2 holes where I was going to start the pull. That got the pipe down to depth and the only shovel work I needed to do was filling in around my valve cover.

PS - JD no longer stocks the Mole Ball.
