Is anyone able to direct me as to where I can find instructions on how to replace a kingpin seal on a 2010 GC2610? No luck on google, but I always seem to use the wrong terms.

Thanks

A pic would help -- are you referring to the front axle "final case" seal (where the wheel turns for steering)?

Thanks for the link, mwayne! Really great video. I haven't yet had to change those seals on my 2310, but good to know how to do it; I'm sure I'll need to change them eventually.

My M-F service manual is really poor in that regard -- even shows, in fig. 20, removing the seal, but not til fig. 21 does it indicate removing the snap ring to separate the final case!

You're welcome, that guy is a good mechanic and did a good job with the video.

Older thread but figured I'd contribute. I'm about to tackle this myself. 300 hours on the tractor and the right side is leaking like crazy. Left looks like it's been seeping. I'm capable of the fix but out of curiosity I called the dealer for a quote to get an idea of the difficulty and was told 8 hours for both sides. I don't know if I buy 8 hours. It looks like a fairly simple operation.

Please post how you did it & such (with pics, please!)... Mine are still OK, but I figure it's only a matter of time. Now have about 950 hrs on my 2310; seals still look the same as in pic above --- some dust stuck there, indicative of a very slight weep.

Did mine a few months back. I recommend some very good lock pin pliers, the best one I got from Advanced Auto, needs to have a long reach and ability to open wide in a tight spot. I bout three different ones before I got the right one.

I used a muffler adapter to tap seals on the upper assembly using the old seal as a hit point against the new.

Be careful when prying the aluminum hub cover off the cast iron hub assembly-I got over zealous with the pinch bar and damaged it a little to much on one side. Used JB weld to repair some of the seal surface but most likely not needed.

Use a good seal extractor\puller to get the seal out of the outer assembly.

Removing the tie rod can be a pain, most likely will end up damaging the boot so maybe order boots as well?

The two main challenges is getting the clip off and putting it back on, and tapping the seals back in place.

Lastly filling her backup takes patience....I went with the dealer recommended heavier oil rather than the viscosity the manual recommends.

Its about right for me doing this, removing tires, draining oil, taking apart hubs, seals, assembly, fill-so if you have the tools lined up I think a professional mechanic could do it in about 6 hours. Took me 2 days off and on and 2 six packs of beer. 3 trips to the dealer and auto parts stores-waiting for JB Weld to cure overnight and sand smooth next day is also included.
