Remove the loose screw. Then just nail another piece of wood to the side of the rafter where the loose screw is located, below the hole, so the screw will have some new wood to tighten into.
', Or as already sugested "Build a new barn its the only way to be sure":)

Metal roofs move a lot with temperature changes. Even a cloud passing over will get a roof to creaking. I doubt anything rigid would hold up for very long. MikeD74T

I had a metal snow block tear off of my roof 4-5 winters ago. I patched about 12 small screw sized holes up top, as i couldnt see the inside holes due to insulation.

I check them every start of winter, and there still nice and tight.

Its not worth the cost of replacing the entire section of roof. I painted the patch to look just like the roof. Cant tell from the ground

Grsthegreat, I'll go with your actual experience over my opinion. Was the patch bonded in a way that moved with the roof vs at an attachment point where the roof could move but the screw/nail couldn't? MikeD74T

In this case the screws were ripped out of the roof. It was a snow dam that pulled off the roof. Had something like 20 screws that pulled out with it. Just the holes remained
