I have the 1026r with the 60" auto connect deck and wouldn't be without it. I found that if I try to attach the deck on the concrete driveway the deck slides away from the tractor. So now I always attach and detach on the gravel approach to my shed. But as the videos show, it is about 45 seconds to attach and about 30 seconds to detach.
There is a down side to the auto connect feature however. If you are switching to a front mounted attachment like a snow blower or broom, you have to removed the auto connect attaching hardware. Its not overly time consuming but you pretty much have to lie on the floor/ground to remove the pins and pto shaft. With a friend on each side it removes fairly quickly. But by yourself if can be more of a challenge. If you are making the switch once in the fall over to the blower and once in the spring back to mower, probably not a big deterrent. But if you have a front mounted broom that you would like to use several times during the mowing season then one might want to reconsider the auto connect option.
But as I get older lying on my side with the mower wheels digging into my ribs trying to attach the mower pto shaft to the tractor, I find the auto connect feature one I would never give up.
So removing and installing the deck on 1 series is not that much faster than the BX.
i will soon find out
Still not as easy as driving over it....and it might get to the point where I will have trouble doing that....hope not...but there is always the kid next door.
Also I was told as the parts wear on the 1series they get a little fiddley to get on.....don't know if that is true or not...but just tossing that out there.
Also the 3 series machines have drive over decks....but I think it is only on the 72" deck.....I cant remember for sure now....but it sure is a nice feature.
Deereman, Yes, please take some pictures of the auto connect removal procedure. Hopefully it will reduce the amount of "bad language" I direct toward John Deere engineers when I remove it. Again, I'm a big fan of auto connect but I have the 52" broom that I would probably use more during the mowing season if it was a bit quicker to switch back and forth.
