Not just the Weather Channel. I remarked more than once how some of the weather reporters on the major networks and even local reporters often exaggerate.

There are reporters who actually report the news and others who try to make the news.

I have to admit that I was watching broadcast on hurricane Florence and it sure looked like the reporter (can't recall his name) was over acting. He was very dramatic for sure. After the winds died down he was standing outside looking at the sky and never looked at the camera, very weird. Turned the channel ….

Giving it some though, the reporter from the weather channel is playing this all wrong IMO.

He should come out and admit he made a mistake in judgement, and swear something like this will never happen again.

The reported has made some tweets about the weather after his news broadcast, but has failed to mention or address what was seen on TV, and the station made it worse by saying he was on grass and he was tired (really a lame excuse).

I get it, both the channel and reporter hope it blows over (no pun intended).

Thing is, with social media the way it is today, he's not having much luck so far, granted it's only a short time after the fact, but the longer you wait, the worse it can get IMO.

What is disappointing is the reporter is a "legitimate" meteorologist who has been reporting for the weather channel for like 20 years or so. Don't address it, make an apology ASAP and hope it gets put behind you, not certain how long he can stay in his line of profession until he becomes a joke.
