The clutch is only used to engage or disengage the PTO or switch between the ranges such as low to mid.

The steering brakes are not really usable. The only time I would care much in my applications is using the rear blade to plow snow or the FEL. In normal traction such as mowing, it steers so quickly anyway, I would not have much need for them, but others may.

It doesnt seem like the steering brakes are a big deal (or designed well). I rarely use the brakes at all anyway.

On the clutch - does it have to be engaged to shift into N ? I am also assuming the tractor must be at a complete stop but I don't know why the B has a clutch pedal and the BX does not.

I think any time you switch ranges, including going into neutral, you need to use the clutch. As soon as you let off the HST pedals, it immediately stops, so it is not like using the clutch to shift a standard transmission. If you are going along and want to change ranges, let off the HST, it stops, push in the clutch and change ranges and go on. You do not have to use the clutch to back up, so if you are mowing with PTO running and want to back into an area, just push down on the reverse pedal and it will mow in reverse. As far as why the B's have it and the BX does not, I do not know.

The brake pedals can be unlocked, so in theory used as steering brakes. I tried in on my drive when using the rear blade on snow, and having the cruise on, but it seemed pretty awkward and not worth worrying about. So I just keep mine locked together. Because under most conditions, it stops anyway when you back off the HST, I hardly ever use the brakes.

A word or warning. If you set the parking brake, you will forget it and find yourself driving with the brake on. If I have the FEL on, I put it on the ground to hold me in place. Harder to forget.

Another tip is the float feature on the FEL. Another TBN member helped me with it as it is not explained in the manual very well. Push the loader control forward as if you are lowering it, but give it an extra little push and you will feel a detent type click. The FEL will drop slowly and then ride along the surface if you have the bucket level. It was very helpful with snow on a hard surface.

I did not realize until later that you have experience with a BX, so my float and parking brake may have been unnecessary. So sorry if I may have came across as explaining something that was already obvious to you.

I'm sure you will enjoy your B when you get it. We looked at a B24, but decided to go with the B and add the backhoe when we need it. Yesterday I pulled the rear blade off mine in hopes that we will not get anymore snow that needs to be cleared.

Here are some early pictures

Hi nice pics ! I was wondering, what is the size of that bush hog, and how does the tractor handle it ? What type of mowing do you do with it, yard or pasture land ?

Thansk !

I've had my B2620 for just about 2 years now and love it. Have had no issues other than the grill getting clogged up and overheating once. That wont happen again.

It sure comes in handy...
