Playing with the Tig welder this morning. 1/8 inch 4043 filler, have no idea what the base metal is, found it in the scrap yard.

Beautys shield, looks great. Silicon bronze filler?

No just plain old 4043.

When you did your Mig weld a few post back, what pattern did you run? Or did you whip back n forth like with 6010?

Like an e<, volts up and wire speed down, gun straight in to joint at a 45* angle. Its definateley in your field of view, so if your a righty you almost have to be on the left side of the gun and two hand it for repeated accuracy.

I think I'll break out the wire feed tomorrow morning and see how I fair at this type of Mig welding. :licking:

I did find it fun, and always looking to expand and learn new tecniques. And theres a time and place for everything and definatley a market for that look. Cool stuff.

Great looking welds, but for that other approach try not angling your gun(straight in) and slow your wire speed down to the point it would be unorthodox to use, but yet steady. This is a very slow process of mig welding. Prob about 5in per minute, just as a referance
