Personally I don't think 20 rounds of your carry ammo is enough to prove the ammo. Myself would be 1-200. But take it serious.

If I was using a wider mouth hollow point, I'd agree with you. Hornady Critical Defense is a pretty narrow mouth hollow point with a very nice bullet ogive. I've used this ammo in a Glock (which eats pretty much anything) and a .380ACP Ruger LCP (which is pretty particular when it comes to ammo).
I'm pretty comfortable with using this brand of ammo.
However, even with the Kahr through it's break-in, I'll still run both jacketed and hollow point ammo through it. I got to loosen up those magazines!

I take my life and loved ones more serious. Everyone has risk ratio they are willing to accept.

20 rounds is not enough for me.

Ruger told me 4 failures out of 400 was acceptable for a lcp. Only gun I ever sold. It was jamming with critical defense ammo.

Whatever floats your boat, Bro...

One thing for sure, the 9-40-45 debate will never end. There is an interesting letter in the June G&A. The responder is Dave Emary, Senior Ballistician at Hornady. Seems like a fella that may know something on the subject.

Just keep in mind, G&A is a gun rag. They run and are supported on advertising dollars spent by all the people who run ads in their magazines. Guns and Ammo can give you more features and benifits and the "cool" factor of owning cow dung better than most out there.

I have absolutley NO DOUBT that Dave Emary, the senior ballistician at Hornady knows more about ballastics than I do, but I'm also 100% certain Hornady had those same people in Mr. Emary's position trying to convince me that the .450 was the round that was going to replace the .45-70

The way I see it at my age and from my own personal experience with guns (and it's an opinion like everything else and we all know what they're like), from the gun manufacturers (including the ammo that the guns use), it's all a shell game on what and when to push to help sales increase to the general public. Military and law enforcement sales can also play a huge factor in civilian sales, as civilians genearlly believe that LEO and Military organizations know their ***** and it must be the best if they use it, so they must own it.

Of course, both military and LE buy from the lowest bidder...

Yes they do. But you have major manufacturers dropping price to get contracts. Sig dropped the price to somewhere around $250 per p320. You have to assume glock and smith where somewhere around that also.

Also determined on who can supply who with the best women, drink and travel (just a guess on major purchases over say 50 million LOL).

It may be the lowest bidder, but the key word in the submital is "equal to or better than..." That opens door to make it an "interpreted" opinion on what product is actually bought and justifies spending more money with one vendor over another.

Honestly, don't know if that is the case with firearms, but I know for a fact that is the case with HVAC equipment at Fort Bragg.

I have 2 lcp's. One was sent back to ruger. It is just to unreliable. I bought a second to see if it was just a fluke. It is a lot better, it's the later model with the better trigger and raised sights. The lcp is just a pleasure to cc, but even with upgraded springs it's just to questionable for cc. My second one might be somewhere around 4 fte out of 500. In the end I just stopped carrying it. Confidence is everything. My iwb carry is g19 or g27 with 357 barrel and mag extensions. I don't think I could force a fte or ftf with either one, and they are the largest I would want to cc. Luckily I live in a state where open carry is a constitutional right so I couldn't care less if I print with a larger pistol, it's about comfort and mobility to me.

I have an early LCP. The only problem I had with the gun was my fault, not the gun's. My right hand doesn't have the dexterity (result of a stroke 18 years ago) and I was riiding the slide just a bit. That was enough to cause problems. Using the slide release exclusively solved the problem....no FTF's.
I don't carry the LCP as a primary...it's my "New York Reload" last chance gun.
